"Way to go, Eli! That was a great story and I'm glad it was shared. I have to say, too, that having a real Sensei, is important to the adults as well. It's a bit different sure. But, at 32 I still appreciate having someone to look up to. I…"

The 100 in Greensboro, AL (Day 2)

This was an awesome day. The people of this community are so thankful. They remember us year after year and come out to watch us work and say hello and thank you to us. The front porches of all the houses around us were well occupied with spectators and cheering folks. Meeting Ms. Georgia was awesome. She is SO excited. She watched every bit of the days work from a neighbor's porch. I love being here!

Go check out the video! I'm going to bed :)…

The 100 in Greensboro, AL (2013 - Day 1)

:)

Made it to Greensboro late tonight but just in time to meet with everyone and get to hear some really great discussions. I just love being here. It's definitely one of my favorite parts of the year.

There was a small group of people today that stood up the first few walls for Ms. Georgia's house. The intention was to go out there tomorrow and get crackin' but there's a big storm rolling in. Big storms in Alabama mean something different that a "big" storm in California.… Continue

Personal Goal - Workouts Update and Lessons So Far

So I've been on my training plan for a good 6 weeks now. And I'm learning A LOT. I've adjusted my workout schedule according to my body's demands.

These are the changes I made:

  • I replaced one sprint workout with a jump-rope workout. I do the same increments with the jump-rope as I did with the sprints except I've cut the rest times in half.
  • I still do three crossfit workouts, but I moved Wednesday's crossfit to Satruday.
  • On Sundays I do a long run/ride…

Call to the Martial Arts History Buffs - Study Help Please

Hi everybody!

I was talking to Mr. Samuel and Ms. Lau yesterday after class about the test next week and it occurred to us that we need to brush up on our martial arts history. So we came up with a master plan:

I am going to start this post with one martial arts history fact. Then, we need everyone to add a fact that isn't already listed.

Sensei, please spot check our posts. And of course, feel free to pitch in.

Okay, so I'll start with a Wansu… Continue

Hey Adren, I'm glad you like the gi. Drawstring pants are the way to go, for sure! :)

And... as for freezing soy. You can... but prepare yourself for a change in the consistency. It's worse with the firmer tofus, but the silken does it a bit too. Basically, freezing tofu dries it out. So it gets kind of crumbly. Sometimes that's a good thing, but crumbly smoothies? Uh uh. Haha. Still, if it's not 100% tofu, you might be better off. Are you mixing the tofu with a juice or yogurt? We'll talk out the details...

Chrissy, thanks for the Gi, I loved my workout much more with the relaxation of the pants. Also as you know I've started a new diet, and I have been told you have knowledge with soy smoothies- I'm looking for any tips you may have, also do you know if they freeze well...like for the next day? See you in class soon!

You're very welcome! Excited to watch this project, if I can't join on rides (a closer-to-racing bike may need to enter my life first).
