Week 22 – Dirk Herfurth

Summer, sun, vacation time! I cannot believe that it is already beginning of July! Half of the journey is over. My wrists still being sprained and I cannot practice as much as I want to. However, patience is a virtue and I know I should not push my luck.

It is getting better slowly. I started doing some knee pushups and push through the pain in my hands. Yet, I feel that I am not 100% there and when I do a few reps the pain gets worse and I need to stop. I don’t want to extend the time I need to heal with forced pushup. So, back to sit-ups and running it is.

The running takes place in North Carolina, Oak Island to be specific. I am dropping my son off at his grandparents for the summer and enjoy their hospitality as well. Swimming in the Atlantic and sipping a cold beer – the first few days of retreat in this eventful year.

Looking back the past 6-7 months of practice, it worked out ok. So far I am on track with most of my exercises, only sparring as you know. However, the next few weeks’ kids free will allow me to catch up on sparring time as well as on Sai kata and Sunsu.
