Basic Basics, and, oh right, those other goals (UBBT update)

[Drafts in process have been floating about…time to post it and move on… πŸ™‚ ]

Over the past couple of weeks what has loomed large is the most basic of basics: the importance of good sleep. We’ve been dealing with some sleep issues in our family–it hasn’t just affected one of us. This disruption had the consequence of getting the whole routine out of whack, including for me regularly accomplishing UBBT numbers.  Every day included some of the requirements, just not all of them, and not to the level of reaching daily goals. We are back on track now, and I’m recharged for taking up the entire routine again. (Hopefully daylight savings won’t take us back to square one.)

I’ll admit that for a few days I ran from the numbers–I haven’t wanted to track anything and the break from that accounting task was actually a good thing, I think (I captured numbers on paper, but they’re not in the master spreadsheet yet). I had some acts of kindness that were immensely touching and moving–equally beneficial to the giver and the recipient.  Writing these down will make for memories of wonderful interactions, and not merely tick marks.

I’ve also made some strides in the organizational goals: simplifying some things for our home management of paper–there’s so much paper coming in!  Some other key clutter areas are getting whipped into shape as well.

This next week’s goal:  rebalancing the entire package–keeping up with the physical requirements as well as being present for the relational and other opportunities that present themselves day by day.  So for now, I’m about to overcome a little bit of fear of the spreadsheet, key in the past week’s numbers with total honesty, and gear up for recommitting.
