Week 18 – Dirk Herfurth

I am working now since a few days in the new office, and I have to say I really like it. It is totally different from my last two years sitting at my office table in my flat, spending most of my time on video calls talking to a screen. Now I am in a vibrant open office environment with large kitchen area, free snacks, fruits and donuts!!

I was concerned how to bring everything new under one hat – commuting to the office, not being at home when my son comes from school and how to keep up with my practice of course.

However, it worked all out fine. My son and I have breakfast together before he takes the bus and I leave for work. He has the chance to become more independent with his own set of keys while coming home an hour before me. When I get back the homework is done (most of the time that is 😊) and we leave for Karate practice. I do half of my pushups before I leave and the other half in the evening or during practice at the dojo. I even find the time sometimes during lunchbreak to walk around the office block and get some mileage in.

All in all, the whole thing was less of an issue than I thought it would be or as the German saying goes: You never eat the food as hot as it is cooked.
