Balance, and Adjusting to Life’s Turns (UBBT update)

Since my last post the training has been up and down, at turns inspired and motivated, then struggling to fit in with the other demands of life. Monday was a definite high, meeting at the dojo to prepare the baskets of socks for the “Sock the Homeless” project–well done, everyone! Heading down to the Loaves and Fishes “campus” and meeting the Mustard Seed staff was a great inspiration to keep things circulating (“things” = food, clothes, smiles…compassion and grace).

Work projects (including homework ๐Ÿ™ ) have clobbered me hard later in the week, making getting up extra early to work out a challenge.  I have clung to repetitions of kata and meditation as sanity keepers when I haven’t been able to reach daily numbers in the other areas. I have really enjoyed mixing up repetitions of basics with kata–as the kata is unfolding it is revealing nuances of the basics.  Acts of kindness have sprung organically with a friend in the hospital this week for a surgery, and other neighbors in need. So, UBBT for me this week has meant balance, and accommodating rather than resisting the ebbs and flows of life.

I am really looking forward to the sun coming out again this weekend, and a long bike ride or two. Ever onward!
