Cooper Riegel – Week 34

I’ve spent this week at my family’s cabin in Idaho with my dad and grandparents. The weather has been a bit warmer than usual but nevertheless, it is perfect up here. We have come up here usually every other summer since I can remember. I’ve spent a lot of time paddleboarding, our cabin is on the river so I bring a bag with me to collect any trash I find while I am out. One of our friends up here has a 4×4 and took me and a couple others out for a ride behind the club our cabins are in. It was super fun, we sped around a track made for 4x4s, picked some wild huckleberries, and drove up a super steep hill that I did not think was possible. In the evenings my dad has been teaching me to fly fish and we went into the middle of the river with waders one afternoon. We didn’t catch anything but it was still a cool and fun thing to try.

The highlight of the week however was going to Yellowstone National Park. My dad and I went by ourselves and decided to go to the Lamar Valley this year instead of Old Faithful. We saw some incredible wildlife and I was taking pictures with our DSLR camera. I got some great shots but the camera’s memory card filled up around 30 minutes into the trip so I had to go through the camera and delete photos I had backed up already to make space. At one point, a bison walked right past our car within arm’s reach which was really cool.
