Lucas Grant: Week 44

In Uncategorized by Lucas Grant1 Comment

This week, I completed my black belt community service project! For my service project, I went to Del Paso Heights Elementary school to put on an assembly by myself to teach pre-k to 2nd graders about anti-bullying. This was a great experience! For my assembly, I went over with the kids what bullying was, what some bullies do, what an act of kindness is, and a verbal judo technique called the “Woah, time out!”. I also taught the kids of to do a palm strike because I had some of them come up and break boards. When the kids were breaking the boards I had them come up and tell me what is something that bullies do. After I got their response I wrote the thing on the board and then the kids would break through it. I think the assembly went really well, it was a big step out of my comfort zone, I was definitely nervous. But once I got started all my nerves melted away. The assembly lasted around 30 minutes and after I was done I got multiple compliments from different teachers so that made me feel good about myself. All in all, it was a really good experience and seeing the kids smile and give me high fives was a very good feeling.

  1. Oh Lucas your assembly sounded wonderful!! I am sure the kids all looked up to you. And made your mom super proud. As I am proud of you. Such a wonderful person you are. And Karate has a lot to do with that. Black Belt seems on track. Love, G. P.S. heard the tournament went well, with some “gold” coming home!!!!
