Meanwhile we have had our dojo picnic on June 11th. This is always a lot of fun to get together outside the dojo. The last two years Covid threw a big wrench in our gears.
So, this year we made it. Weather was nice, not too hot; just lower triple digits around early afternoon. Geneva san, David san, and me manned the BBQ and provided hot dogs, burgers, and chicken for the horde. This allowed us to stay away from the dunk pool where sensei and all other teachers got dunked in the name of charity.
Oh, did I mention the triple digits temperatures? After the main grilling was done, the other task for black belt candidates was to cool the crowds and prevent heat strokes. And what is better for that then a super soaker filled with ice water? Fun!
All in all after the shenanigans we raised $1,540 for Sutter Child Life – not bad!!!
