Meanwhile the One Heart Challenge is down to only David san and me. Geneva san unfortunately got injured during her practice and together with sensei Oliver she decided to continue next year. In addition Geneva san started her college career at Cal Poly Humboldt this fall.
I am sad to see her go and wish her all the best for her studies and during next year’s challenge. She will have good company with the two other contenders: Lucas san and Cooper san.
Cal Poly Humboldt is named after Alexander von Humboldt, a fellow German. He was a polymath, geographer, naturalist and explorer during a time when the maps had a lot of white spots. During 1799 and 1804 Humboldt travelled the Americas extensively where he explored and described them for the first time from a modern Western scientific point of view.
“The Invention of Nature” from Andrea Wulf is great biography of his life.
You are going to a great school carrying Humboldt’s name, Geneva san. Again, all the best and see you soon around the dojo.
