Week 30 – Dirk Herfurth

Sunday sparring time with David-san. Meeting time is 10AM sharp. We go a few rounds, practice some kata and theorize about world politics. The latter is done over some coffee after our morning routine, which is a nice relaxing habit we have established for the end of the week.

By the way this is another strange U.S. thing I discovered since I came over 10 years ago. The rest of the world is starting the week on a Monday, yet U.S. is starting on Sunday. Some say that has Christian mythology reasons. However, as Sunday is the seventh day on which God rested, that should be the END of his work week, right?!

Aaanyway, please explain this to me and the whole thing of still using the Imperial measurements as well.

Be that as it may, today I needed to do some stop at Rite Aid before our coffee meeting as I twisted my knee. Now I am the proud owner of a knee brace that I will wear during the next sparring sessions.

In the New Year I will have to go and have my knee checked out as it is giving me a hard time while sitting in seiza.

As I am not getting younger I need to do that. Otherwise I am feeling fine. Push-ups and sit-ups flow nicely and I have no issues getting my 160 repetitions each day. Now that the weather is getting cooler (not this week though but soon) I can also increase my mileage counter.

All in all I am on track with my exercises.
