Last week we did not do our usual Sunday sparring. My son and me went to the Capitol Airshow instead. A whole day of watching airplanes, which is our annual thing here in Sacramento’s fall.
In Germany airshows like this are not possible as the safety regulations are too strict. So, naturally, I especially enjoy the performances here in the US.
This airshow at Mather Field was established in 2004 and has great performers each year. This year we saw the Air Force’s F22 raptor demonstration team. They are the world’s first 5th generation dedicated combat aircraft demonstration unit and vectored-thrust demonstration unit in the world.
In addition, we saw some one of the first-generation jets flying, a F86 Sabre and their foe from Korea, the Russian Mig 15.
All in all, a great day to hang out with the boy, listening to jet thunder, drinking Bud Lights and eating hot dogs.
