Ski Day is a good day!

Being in the final stretch before testing for black belt, I decided to get a day trip in with my oldest son as to enjoy the snow and some slope time. I thought about the risks like twisting my knee or any number of other injuries that could occur while skiing, but time is fleeting and I wanted to spend some time with my son, too (skiing a bonus).

We had a great day on the slopes! The weather was excellent, the conditions very good. I was able to tack on another 50 miles to my 1,000 mile journey, too!

In the morning and after 8 months or so of NOT skiing (this being the first trip of this ski season), I took it easy and was very conservative relative to my speed. I mostly stayed on intermediate groomers. After my legs warmed up and I felt more confident, my son and I hit some advanced slopes but nothing too crazy. When not skiing and sitting on the ski lift heading back up for our next run, we had some good conversation.

There is something so special to me about being up on the slopes; the awesomeness of nature, the invigorating cold and scent of the alpine air. I will not go back up until after my black belt test but suffice it to say I am eager to do so! A ski day is a good day!
