Rain, wind and blackout!

The rain is wonderful! We need it! Lots of it! More of it! The wind I could do without, but it’s just part of the weather equation. We had several large trees that blew over in the East Sacramento neighborhood including East Lawn Cemetery. The power to our home and part of our neighborhood went out for an hour and a half early evening last week, then later that night was out for another 24 full hours.

During the blackout we had candles lit and I don’t know, but there’s something about sitting in the dark, interacting with the family and wondering then the lights would flash back on. It is also a reminder how dependent we are on electricity; that without it things are not only more challenging, but our health and safety can also be compromised. One of our neighbors was going out and sitting in her car to stay warm.

I am looking forward to more rain! Meh on the wind and hoping for no additional blackouts!
