Week 50 – Dirk Herfurth

As the winter season begins in Germany, the advent season is also upon us. This time of year is marked by four Sundays leading up to Christmas Eve, and it’s a time for quiet reflection and preparation for the holiday season. On each of the four Sundays yet another candle is being lit on the Advent wreath.

For me, advent has always been a special time of year. The shorter days and longer nights provide a sense of calm and stillness, and it’s a great time to focus on my training for my black belt. Every Sunday, I have the privilege of training with David san, and I always look forward to our sessions as a chance to hone my skills.

In addition to my training, advent is also a time for me to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I love spending time with friends and family, enjoying warm cups of cocoa, and indulging in a few sweets. This year as every year I received a care package from my mom in Germany filled with all sorts of delicious treats.

Overall, advent is a time for me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the winter season. It’s a time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the future, and I always feel grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this special time of year.
