This week we are celebrating Saint Nicolaus in Germany. This annual event, which takes place on December 6th, is a time for children to have some fun while also learning about the importance of being good and kind to others.
The tradition of Nicolaus involves children cleaning their shoes and placing them outside their bedroom doors on the night of December 5th. The next morning, they wake up to find that Nicolaus has visited and left them a special treat in their shoes. If they’ve been good throughout the year, they’ll find candy, chocolate, and other sweet treats in their shoes. But if they’ve been naughty, they might find a lump of coal instead!
Overall, Nicolaus is a wonderful tradition that brings joy and excitement to children during the holiday season. It’s a great way to teach kids about the value of kindness and good behavior, and it’s sure a beloved part of my holiday celebrations.
